Carrying a tool backpack to the job site is a brilliant idea but it is burdensome having it on your back all the time while you work. That is why it is necessary to have a tool belt alongside your tool bag. A tool belt is a special hands-free tool organizer worn around the hip for carrying light and medium tools and hardware that you need to perform a task. It keeps important tasks-specific tools within reach thus eliminating a lot of movement to and from the main tool storage. This minimizes time wastage and as a result, improves your overall efficiency at the job site. A tool belt also prevents the loss or misplacement of tools because it allows you to carry only the tools you need.
For example, if you are an electrician, you would need a backpack to store and transport all the tools an electrician needs at a job site. However, if you were tasked with terminating electrical wires to a wall socket, you would just need to grab a few tools from the tool bag such as a pair of pliers, a socket tester, a pair of strippers, a voltmeter, screwdrivers, and an insulating tape. Instead of carrying the entire backpack, you simply organize well the wire termination tools in a tool belt tool organizer and quickly set on with work. This is less fatiguing and less restrictive to the areas you can access.
To make it easy for you to choose the most suitable tool belt for your trade, here at Tooelever, we have compiled the 5 best multipurpose sets. We have even gone further to specify the best ones for electricians, carpenters, framers, among other trades even though they are designed as multipurpose tool belts that can be customized for different trades.

Detailed Tool Belts Reviews
Occidental Leather Tool Belt Review – 8089 OxyLights 7 Bag Framer Set
Occidental Leather company is known for making some of the most durable heavy-duty tool organizers and the 8089 OxyLights tool belt is definitely one of them. It is handmade, very well stitched, and riveted at all pressure points to increase strength and durability. It has two bags with plenty of pockets to accommodate different tools you might need to have on yourself on the job. In addition, it has leather loops, slots, and holders where you can slide in or hook additional tools. The tool belt also has 2 hammer loops; one is a leather hoop on the side of one of the bags (suitable for right-handed) and the other one is a metallic loop at the back. To ensure that the tool belt system is not heavy on you, the bags are made of very solid durable nylon material.
The occidental leather 8089 OxyLights is designed for various trades but works best for framers. As you probably know, framing is arguably the most athletic type of carpentry because you are building a skeleton of a house that needs you to move up and down, slide between studs, duck between trusses and the last thing you want is anything that obstructs your movement. As such, the occidental leather tool belt has bags that can be moved easily along the leather belt to give your legs a full range of motion as well as make it easy for you to access tools. In addition, it has an independent steel hammer loop that can be positioned at any place of preference on the belt.
Verdict
Although it is not all-leather, the occidental leather 8089 OxyLights tool belt is a perfect choice for any contractor. More importantly, it is the best tool belt for framers. It is simple with pockets and leather loops deliberately designed to accommodate various framing tools effortlessly. For instance, it has a speed square pocket, cats paw hoop, and a try square loop. It also has a very nice leather belt that you can even use on your pants and look nice. In addition, it is available in various sizes: Small 29″-32″, medium 33″-35″, large 36-39, x-large 40″-44″, xx-large 45-49, and xxx-large 50″-54″ at the same cost. The downside, however, is that you pay a little more for this tool organizer and you have to purchase suspenders and suspender clips separately!
ToughBuilt Tool Belt Review
The ToughBuilt tool belt system is a 3 piece set that includes a belt with padding, and 2 pouches. The pouches provide a total of 10 pockets of different sizes to accommodate various tools. In addition, one of the bags has a strong modular hammer loop. The 2″ padded belt, on the other hand, has 4 suspender loops onto which the rig suspension system, though not included, is attached.
Unlike other tool belt systems that have either the pouches permanently stitched onto the belt or the belt routed through them, the ToughBuilt tool belt uses a proprietary clip technology called ClipTech to attach the tool pouch bags. The ClipTech innovation uses a hard-plastic hub onto which a bag attaches to. This tool belt, in particular, has two ClipTech hubs onto which the two bags are attached. The technology allows the bags to effortless be adjusted or changed out to fit every job. Each bag also has an integrated kickstand to allow it to stand on the floor or table without spilling tools.
Generally, this tool belt is designed perfectly for electricians, construction, contractors, carpenters, framers, and plumbers. Its pouches have enough space to accommodate a large variety of tools. Together with its 2 large pockets are a plastic-lined utility knife pocket, a notebook pocket, an extreme-duty hammer loop, screwdriver loops, and 2 tape measure clips. With its rugged 6-layer construction and rivet reinforcements, durability is guaranteed. It also has 4 suspender loops that allow you to attach any four links suspension system.
Verdict
If you want to bring a new level of organization and efficiency to your project, the ToughBuilt 3-piece Handyman Tool Belt Set is what you need. It will allow you to work faster and smarter with its cutting-edge technology. It is fully customizable with bags that are easy to attach or remove. If you get to tight spots, you can always remove and kickstand the bags on the floor or table without spilling contents. This tool belt system is fairly priced and will save you time and money. The downside, however, is that the ClipTech hubs can break from a lot of force.

Gatorback Electrician Tool Belt Review – B240 Combo with Pro-Comfort Back Support
One of the heavily padded and most comfortable tool belt systems is the Gatorback B240 toolbelt otherwise known as the electrician toolbelt combo. The tool organizer gets its name from the patented back design that mimics an alligator’s back. Between the paddings are air channels that enhance ventilation to prevent sweating while wearing it. The belt has full back support built into it to allow you to work for long hours without getting fatigued. The Gatorback B240 tool belt has strong handles built into it for easy carrying and storage. There are also four suspender rings sewn directly on top of the bag for attaching a four-links pair of tool belt suspenders.
As far as storage space is concerned, the Gatorback toolbelt has 2 pouches with a total of 18 different sizes of pockets to accommodate a large variety of tools. It also has a metallic hammer loop at the back and a tape chain on the outside of one of the pouches. Each pouch has webbing that goes across the top to help keep the form. Double stitching and box stitching are also utilized to enhance the strength of the tool belt. As if that is not enough strength, all stress points are reinforced with bar-tacking and rivets. To keep the pouches open, the inside of each of them has a piece of plastic that runs through the middle. In other words, a piece of plastic sandwiches the 2 layers of 1250 vinyl nylon material used to make the bags to prevent the bottom from pushing tools or other things down through the middle.
The tool belt pouches attach to the belt using velcro, which on various occasions has been faulted for ripping off or not holding up. It is actually the major shortcoming of this magnificent tool belt. Nevertheless, the velcro allows easy attachment and removal of pouches thus increasing efficiency. The belt is leather-tipped and fitted with a metallic buckle for increased strength and durability.
Verdict
Although built to be used by handymen of all trades, the Gatorback B240 is more suitable as an electrician tool belt. Its pockets are engineered to carry the tools of a professional electrician. For example, a tape chain installed on one of the tool pouches is useful to electricians for securely holding a bunch of insulation tapes. The multiple pockets of the gator electrical pouches, on the other hand, are suitable for carrying electrical tools such as pliers, wire cutters, wire strippers, voltage detector devices, voltage tester, screw drivers etc. So, if you are an electrician looking for a very tough, sturdy, versatile, and most of all, a comfortable tool belt that is built with an electrician in mind, the Gatorback B240 toolbelt is the best choice for the money. It is light on your waist and does not keep falling off while you work. This allows you to become more productive on your electrical project. Because electrical tools are generally light, the velcro on the tool belt serves you longer with minimal disappointments. In addition, you don’t have to worry about your body size because the Gatorback tool pouch holder has you covered with its different sizes ranging from small to triple extra-Large.

Bucket Boss Tool Belt Review – 55185-MOSC 3 Bag Framers Rig
When you have so many good alternatives to choose from, it becomes very difficult to select. This requires attention to the nitty-gritty stuff. The Bucket Boss 55185-MOSC is equally a very reliable, tough, and versatile tool belt. It is made of ballistic nylon; a very tough material for wearables that is very hard to tear apart. Its belt system has a heavy duty buckle and features 5 monster grommets that give you up to 8 inches of adjustability. There is also a slider on the side to give you more adjustability. This infinitely adjustable belt makes it possible for this tool belt to be used by people with waist sizes ranging from small to 52 inches.
This tool belt features 3 pouches that deliver enough storage space. They have numerous pockets including a speed square pouch and measuring tape pouch to allow you to organize tools more efficiently. It also features a super heavy-duty webbing hammer loop and a cat’s paw nail port on the side of one of the pouches and a steel hammer loop at the back. The bags are made of 2 layers of 1680 heavy-duty poly fabric and their bottoms are reinforced with diamond PVC that is super abrasion-resistant.
While its construction is as rugged, reliable, and tough as the other three tool belts reviewed thus far, the Bucket Boss 55185 has the suspension system as the differentiating thing. The suspension system has four links and is elastic to support a load and to allow flexibility and movement. It also has a mobile phone pocket that is large enough to hold an iPhone or a Samsung Galaxy. The pocket has a top flap to keep the phone from falling off when you lean forward. Another unique thing about the suspenders is the breathable shoulder pads that are designed to allow air to flow in and out to keep your body cool even when it gets really hot. The suspenders are removable to allow you to wear only when you need them.
Verdict
The Bucket Boss 55185-MOSC 3 Bag Framers Rig is an excellent tool belt not only for framers but for every handyman. Unlike the other tool belts in this review, this unit features a very strong load-bearing suspension system. The tool belt is also available in different colors.
